CEITEC Masaryk University

The Central European Institute of Technology is an independent institute at Masaryk University. It was created within the framework of the CEITEC project which includes the leading Brno universities and two research institutes based in Brno who joined forces in order to establish a centre of scientific excellence. Director of the Central European Institute of Technology of Masaryk University is Prof. RNDr. Jaroslav Koča, DrSc. who at the same time holds the office of a Scientific Director of CEITEC for Life Sciences.

The Central European Institute of Technology of Masaryk University constitutes the key element of a world-class research infrastructure scheduled to be built at the University Campus in Brno-Bohunice by the end of 2013, providing state-of-the-art equipment and ideal conditions for basic and applied research, especially in the area of life sciences.

CEITEC priorities include providing an international dimension in research cooperation as well as ensuring its interdisciplinary character. Core facilities will become an interconnecting element among various research disciplines, as they will create a perfect base for addressing interdisciplinary questions in the fields of nanotechnologies, microtechnologies, structural biology, genomics and proteomics, advanced materials and biomedicine.
